Happy New Year's to the World!

I wish for the world is that this decade will be better than the last. I hope that peace spreads like Athlete's Foot! Incurable and very contagious!
Everyone out there, have a good time tonight, and be safe!
I don't know about everyone else, but I'm glad we made it through this decade!

A New Gallery

I went out to Beaverton today, all the way on the West side. I mean WAY out there on the left side!
I went with my husband and we rode the Max out there. The Max is the light rail system here in Portland. It goes to quite a few places.
We met with the business owners, two nice ladies, and we discussed many things, not just business.
It was a pleasurable business meeting. :]
They should all go so well, lol!
I'll be taking a few things out there after Christmas, when I have some stuff done. Stream of Consciousness will be there. We're going to put a nice frame around it, and take it out there. I think that it might do well, there; here's hoping that it sells!
Well, I have to go. I have images in my head, wax to melt, and things to do!

Impatiently waiting

for a special order glass cutter so I can finish my latest commission. It's looking pretty good, so far.
I'll post pics when it's done. And the process pictures. :]

Update on the Angry Chair

It's coming along! It's angry, it's red; it's uncomfortable. I need a better camera, I know the top image is darker than it should be. The bottom image gives a better indication of the actual colouring.

Work in Progress- Angry Chair

The next in the chair series is on the easel, and coming out very well. I've had to struggle a bit with the shadow under the chair. Next is the background work!
The blue one is the prussian blue underpainting. It really pops out that red!
The red is where it's at right now. I have a commission to finish, and then I get to work on the Chair.
It's oil on birch panel. I used Dorland's Wax Medium in the oils, it gives it a really visible texturing.
I need to get a better camera, there's some really nice texture that isn't showing up as well as I'd like, in the hills behind the Chair.
But! I think with the right camera I'll be able to better reproduce my art.
I'm happy that the tax season is nearly here, Happy Tax Day gets a new camera for me!!

Happy Turkey Day, all of you lovely people!

I had a great day! I saw grandkids, I ate turkey and sweet treats! Then I came home and painted!
What a great day!!!
I'm still working on my Angry Chair; I'm pleased with the way it's coming out. It looks like ANGRY!
I'm off to the easel, now. I have a show to get ready for and a painting to finish!

It's been awhile but I've been REALLY busy!

I've unbelievably busy! I've been working on commissions, working part time, and attending Portland State University full time!

I've also managed to squeeze in an opening, and the start of a new painting.

This is the second in my chair series. This is the start of The Angry Chair. I've gotten more done, but no pic at the moment. Will post one when I get a chance!
The chair is going to be many different shades of red. Thorny, angry reds.

Summer is almost gone, Sigh...

I'm sitting here at the computer looking out at the grey, wet day and I'm missing summer already.

The maple trees down by the local Fred Meyer's are turning from green to gold and red. Nice. I don't like the coldness of Fall, but I do love the colors!

Now's my real productive time. Here in Oregon, Fall and Winter are very wet and muddy, so we Oregonians pretty much just suck it up and get on with life.

I've just moved into a new place and as soon as I'm done unpacking, I actually now have a studio of my own instead of a corner of a tiny living room. Yippeeeeeee!!!!

It's not the greatest space, but it's a space dedicated to the creation of art.

I'll be really happy to be done with this unpacking. I haven't been able to do any art and it's making me want to chew nails! I don't smoke, I don't really drink, my addiction is the creation of art, so doing without is really making me a crabby individual.

I have two different series that I'm in the middle of; moving has really put a crimp into my addiction. ARGHHH!!!

This is my segue into talk about those series...

I'm doing another goddess, Inanna, as I've posted before, that's coming along nicely. I found this glass that looks watery. My plan is for that glass to be dark when the lights are on, so that the flowers and the branches of Inanna's symbol and the Tree of Life stand out. We've finally gotten to my statue, now I have to find the glass and the glue.

The second project is another chair. This one is the Angry Chair. It's on paper waiting to go onto the prepared birch panel. I'm doing it in oils. That's the pic of the red chair up top. I'm going to get it started as soon as I get all of these dratted boxes put away. If it wasn't for my husband and the help of my youngest son's best friend, Hobo, I'd have melted down into a quivering pile of pigmented jelly by now!

Busy, busy, busy!!

It's been a very busy time since I've been here last. I've had a gallery opening, birthdays and I've been working on art. I have a new piece done, I've started Inanna, and I have an oil on the easel! Not to mention work and some play. ;]
What's life without some playtime? Boring, that's what!
Tonight, I'm meeting with the folks I'm doing the commission for. I've got the graphic for the letterhead done, now I just need the approval to start on the encaustic part of this. It's been very challenging, making my head go from art to design, all in one project. :]
Very cool!!

Happy Mother's Day to all of you mothers!

Here it is, Mother's day, and I'm up to my elbows in glass and glue again. I've started on the new Goddess, Inanna.
Gaia heads off to Her new spot in a local gallery, Tuesday, along with other pieces. The Love Art Gallery is opening in a lovely Victorian in the Sellwood area. It's very exciting!
I've been really busy, as is reflected in the heinous way I've neglected this blog, sigh! Work is going gang busters, leaving me limited time for art, but if I have to miss sleep to create, I will.
Besides the next Goddess, I'm also working on a commissioned piece that involves fine art and corporate branding. Whew!
And on top of that, I've started a new oil painting on panel and one on copper. I love this time of year!!! I get so energized, the daylight is the best stimulant I know of. Pictures of projects to follow soon...

Glass and Glue, Completed!

Here's the pics, folks! These were taken at the SE Art Walk by a very talented lady named Stephanie Houston, of Magick and Mayhem Studio.

Happy Easter!

I am so not good at this blogging! My poor blog is sooo neglected! It's been a really busy last few weeks and I've been either working, running for family stuff, or my favorite, creating art work!
It's time for the art season and I'm looking forward to it! Seeing familiar faces, the music and the crowds! I love it!
The First Thursday in the Pearl is on again, and I'm in it again this year. I'm also looking forward to the Last Thursdays, in the Alberta District. It's a bit of the craziness of the Sixties, plopped down in Portland. It's a really fun time. I'm going to the first as an observer, and the rest will be as a vendor. I'm looking forward to it. :)
Hoping to see you all there!

SE Art Walk

I have to say, this was a very fun event. I was in a building with six other women, and each one talented!
I have Gaia, my previously posted project, just about done, and she was the belle of the ball, so to speak. I could have sold her many times over, but I didn't want to send her out unfinished. I'll be finishing her up tomorrow, and calling a couple of interested parties.
Tomorrow I'll post pics of her finished.
The whole thing was very enjoyable. The Flying Cat coffee shop very generously donated free coffee, the use of that wonderful building was donated, by the owner, as well. A very heartfelt shout out of appreciation to him!

The Busy Season is Here!

Now that the winter is starting to loosen it's frosty grip on Portland, it's the start of my busy season!
First, we have the Erotic Ball and Art Show, at the Village Ballroom, 700 NE Dekum, Portland OR.
Then, on March 4th, back to the ballroom for another show.
Before that, the SE Art Walk, Feb. 28th and March 1st.
I'm looking forward to it all. I like the shows; meeting fellow artists and seeing what they're doing is part of the fun, for me.
I'm hoping to see lots of people this season!

It's time for a global dance! February 6th, 8:30 pm EST, we are all going to dance to Stand by Me, by John Lennon. Filming is totally encouraged! This is a project in conjunction with another artist, and we are hoping to get millions involved, what ever your time zone! Where ever you are, turn on and dance!! A global art project...
